Iamforrozeiro festival Amsterdam 2013

A weekend full of Brazilian rhythm and dance

From the 13th to the 15th of September 2013 the festival
Iamforrozeiro will take place in Amsterdam. Three full days of workshops with teachers from Brazil, but also from Germany, France, the UK and Belgium. Local and international artists will play live forró music during three amazing dance parties. Around 300 participants from all Europe are expected.

Forró is a partner-dance full of sensuality and joy. Originally it comes from the North of Brazil but today it is popular in the whole country. Also in Europe the forró scene has significantly expanded during the last years. In the Netherlands the joy of the music and the sensuality of the dance are attracting more and more people from different ages and cultural backgrounds. The forró music is usually played with three instruments: accordion, triangle and zabumba (big drum).

With her dance school and her passion for forró, the Brazilian dance teacher Juliana Braga has created the foundations for the forró scene in Amsterdam. Her style, full of temperament and humour attracts a lot of people. She organizes the Iamforrozeiro festival together with the music producer Julio Brechó in Amsterdam. He has devoted his life to forró music and since 2009 he is organizing concerts and dance parties in Amsterdam and thereby contributes to the growth of the forró scene in the Netherlands.
